My heart and mind still remain slightly dazzled days after finishing this novel. Perhaps the reader unknowingly keeps a sliver of the mystical fae portrayed in these pages so cleverly woven by author Mary Morgan. I have read stories in the past depicting magical fae beings but never have I read a novel so cleverly pieced together in both imagination and heart.

"Listen and believe, for the story i am about to tell you is one of truth, and if you so choose to believe, then you are one of the rare and special ones."

Can you imagine living a life that is not meant to be your own, your true destiny awaiting you in a different time and place? Following Heroine Brigid O'Neill from modern day Seattle to the mid evil Highlands of Scotland i could not fathom the thought of not only time travel but actually having your destiny decided for you long before your birth. As i flipped through the pages i could not help but put myself in Brigid's place as she tried to navigate the meaning of her dreams, an ancient sword falling into her hands and the feelings of belonging somewhere else that she could not understand.

"They were an ancient order, descended from the great Tuatha De Danann, the Sidhe, or in simpler terms, the fae. Half human and half fae, each one blessed with mystical powers. Each warrior given Holy Relics from the Tuatha De Danann and the guardianship over their dragons... They were known as the Dragon knights."

Following Brigid as she slowly pieced together dreams and events so many thoughts of wonder and curiosity continued to flit through my mind making this a truly enjoyable read. As Brigid attempts to decipher her dreams of the brawny dark highlander she is intensely drawn to with every fiber of her being, along with cryptic messages, and a the overwhelming sense of authenticity she was feeling i was enthralled. As each dream became more realistic with additional clues developing i was eager to read without stopping in anticipation of seemly long awaited events finally taking place. Mary has a talent for keeping the reader guessing, with just enough information to sustain interest.

"Across the sea your destiny awaits...To right a wring within this place...Beneath the gate to test their fate...Return this sword to its rightful place."

Duncan Mackay is a cursed man haunted by evil and past events that seemly ended his life and honor as he knew it. Shunned by the Fae and enveloped by an ancient curse Duncan is living his life a shell of his prior shelf unknowing of his quest and a soulmate from another time and place that will heal his battered blackened heart and lead him to the path of redemption. A powerful man half human, half Fae Duncan battles his heritage, fate, and the fear of a broken heart.

"Across the sea their destiny awaits. A love will meet through time and space. To right a wrong within this place. Beneath the gate to test your fate."

Thrown through time and into the presence of Duncan Mackay the man haunting her dreams clutching the ancient sword that would mean Duncan's salvation tight to her heart Brigid's true story began. Duncan spies a captivating woman with flaming read hair in strange dress with an outlandish accent and daft ways. I could not help but laugh at some of the awkward moments between our main characters as they learn about each others lives and unknowingly start to fall desperately in love.

"Could it be conceivable she would be his salvation?"

As I delved deeper and deeper into the depths of this novel following both characters through the twists and turns cleverly depicted by Mary Morgan i truly marveled at the depth of detail that Mary put into developing this story and all of the characters within. I had a constant feeling of unease never knowing what evil or unfortunate event may be around the corner for our hero and heroine, the element of surprise infused throughout every page will ensure even the pickiest of readers stay entertained start to finish. I did feel some frustration awaiting true interaction between Duncan and Brigid as the story took quite some time to develop to that point but i was otherwise extremely satisfied with the read.

"I am giving you a gift, Brigid, but it is up to you to choose."

At the climax of the novel which seemly took place very close to the end of the story I felt my heart strings get wrung to the max. I could not believe some of the events and felt disheartened for our characters sake at the crossroads that came to place. A tragic story of loving someone so much you are willing to loose them forever. The reader needs to remember that anything is possible in the realm of the fae, including the choice of time, love, as well as life and death. I highly recommend this novel to any historical romance enthusiast, even with the presence of the fae this novel still hugged my heart and soul as a Highland Romance fanatic.

Please dive into the world of the fae like i did, you will not regret your decision....Magic, Love, Battle, Hardship, Redemption...
